A reverse lockout solenoid should be installed at the brake actuator before installing disc brakes, this is because disc brakes generate full braking power in reverse. To connect the 12V solenoid valve wire it to the back up light circuit for automatic brake lockout. This product can be independently wired or connected to a trailer wire harness with a 5-flat plug on your trailer and the vehicle used to tow.

This is necessary for disc brake use, This electronically activated reversing solenoid prevents hydraulic pressure buildup whenever the tow vehicle is shifted into reverse.  Brake Fluid is routed back to the actuators master cylinder reservoir, no line pressure builds up and the trailer can easily be backed up.
