Genuine Dexter UFP A-160 | 16K Triple-Axle Disc Brake Actuator | Bolt-On 2-5/16" Drop
Stop 16,000 lbs with confidence. Engineered for the extreme hydraulic demands of triple-axle disc systems, ensuring smooth, proportional braking for heavy boat and equipment trailers.
Overview Video
Overview
This isn’t a "universal" replacement—it is a specialized, high-capacity powerhouse. The Genuine Dexter UFP A-160 is specifically valved to overcome the fluid displacement hurdles of 6-wheel braking systems. By utilizing a high-volume master cylinder and a precision-engineered drop tongue, it ensures that your triple-axle setup receives consistent, equalized pressure across every caliper.
R&P Service Insight
Most actuators fail on triple axles because they can't move enough fluid. The A-160 is the "Big Block" of actuators.
- Master Cylinder: Tuned stroke length ensures the rear-most axle grabs just as hard as the front.
- Anti-Dive Geometry: The drop-tongue design keeps your trailer level, preventing the actuator from "binding" under heavy surge loads.
- Marine Heritage: UFP internals are the industry gold standard for saltwater resistance and smooth operation.
R&P Knowledge Hub
System Fit: Exclusively for 2 to 3-axle configurations (4 or 6 calipers) utilizing Hydraulic Disc Brakes.
The "Drop" Advantage: The 2-5/16" ball drop is specifically designed to align heavy trailer frames with high-clearance 3/4 and 1-ton tow vehicles.
Installation Notes: Bolt-on design allows for shop-level installation. Ensure your mounting hardware is Grade 8 to match the 16,000 lb rating.
Compatibility: Not for use with Drum brakes. Use only with DOT 3 or 4 Brake Fluid.
R&P Repair Insight
Upgrading to a 16K unit requires attention to your total system integrity. Don't let a weak hitch or old fluid compromise your new actuator.
- Check Your Ball: Ensure you are using a 2-5/16" ball. A 2" ball will appear to fit but will fail catastrophically under surge pressure.
- Reverse Solenoid: Being a Disc-Specific unit, ensure your 5-flat or 7-round plug is wired to the backup lights to allow reversing without brake engagement.
- Bleeding Tip: On triple axles, always start bleeding at the caliper furthest from the actuator to ensure all air is purged from the high-volume lines.
Features
Stop 16,000 lbs Effortlessly
Massive GVWR rating designed for safety at maximum capacity on heavy boat and equipment haulers.
Triple-Axle Hydraulic Flow
Specifically sized master cylinder displacement ensures all 6 calipers actuate simultaneously without pressure drop.
Level-Tow Drop Tongue
Eliminates trailer dive and keeps the actuator parallel to the ground for peak surge sensitivity.
Professional Bolt-On Fit
High-strength bolt-on mounting provides a rigid connection for 3" wide trailer tongues without welding.
