Heavy-duty radial trailer tire and white spoke / wagon steel wheel assembly from R&P Carriages in Seneca, Illinois. This is measurement- and configuration-specific inventory for trailers using an ST225/75R15 tire and a 6-lug wheel with a 6 on 5.5-inch bolt pattern.

Fitment matters. Verify tire size, wheel diameter and width, bolt pattern, pilot diameter, offset, stud size, lug-seat configuration, load ratings and trailer clearance before purchasing. Do not purchase by trailer make/model alone.

ST225/75R15 explained

ST identifies a tire intended for trailer service. The nominal tire width is 225 mm, the sidewall height is 75 percent of the nominal section width, the tire uses radial construction, and the final 15 identifies the required 15-inch wheel diameter.

A tire marked 225/75R16 requires a 16-inch wheel and cannot be mounted on a 15-inch wheel. Because this assembly uses a 15-inch wheel, the corresponding tire size is ST225/75R15.

Load Range E

Current Kenda ST225/75R15 Load Range E trailer tires are 10-ply rated and carry a maximum load of 2,860 lb at 80 PSI. Exact diameter, section width and speed rating vary by tire model, so the actual tire sidewall remains the governing specification.

6 on 5.5 bolt pattern

The wheel uses six lug holes arranged on a 5.5-inch bolt circle. Both the lug count and bolt-circle diameter must match the trailer hub exactly.

A 6-lug wheel is not automatically interchangeable with every other 6-lug wheel. Verify the pilot opening, wheel offset, stud diameter and lug-seat configuration as well.

White Wagon / Spoke wheel

“White Wagon” describes the traditional painted-steel spoke-style trailer wheel. Dexstar identifies this style as its Spoke wheel family.

The current Dexstar specification corresponding to a 15-inch, 6 on 5.5 spoke wheel is a 15x6 JJ wheel with a 4.27-inch pilot, zero offset, 1/2"-20 stud compatibility with a 60° cone seat, and a 2,860-lb wheel rating.

Wheel offset

Zero offset places the hub mounting surface approximately on the wheel centerline. Changing wheel offset can alter tire-to-frame, suspension and fender clearance, so the replacement wheel should match the original application.

Capacity is component-specific

The tire rating does not establish the trailer or axle capacity by itself. The usable capacity of the mounted assembly is limited by its lowest-rated component, including the tire, wheel and valve stem.

Trailer capacity is further limited by the hub, bearings, axle, suspension and trailer structure. Never calculate trailer capacity from the tire or wheel rating alone.

Inflation and valve stem

ST225/75R15 Load Range E tires commonly require up to 80 PSI to achieve their maximum rated load. The installed valve stem must also be rated for the pressure being used.
