Fitment & Compatibility
Designed specifically for Dexter D30 3,000 lb axles using 10" x 1-1/2" brake drums.
These assemblies pair with:
- Dexter 8-418 brake drums
- Standard 4-bolt brake mounting flanges
- Electric brake controller-equipped tow vehicles
Important: These are 10" x 1-1/2" brakes. They are not interchangeable with 10" x 2-1/4" brake assemblies commonly used on 3,500 lb axles.
Always verify:
- Brake diameter and shoe width
- Axle capacity tag (3,000 lb D30)
- 4-bolt mounting flange configuration
- Correct left/right orientation
- Drum compatibility (8-418)
Typical Applications
- Light-duty tandem utility trailers
- Boat trailers with electric brake systems
- Small equipment trailers
- Landscape trailers
- Custom builds using Dexter D30 axle assemblies
Installation Overview
- Remove wheel and brake drum.
- Disconnect brake wiring from existing assembly.
- Remove four backing plate mounting bolts.
- Install new brake assembly and torque mounting hardware properly.
- Reconnect wiring (polarity does not matter for electric magnets).
- Reinstall drum and wheel.
- Adjust brake controller and perform proper break-in procedure.
Proper brake sizing is critical. Installing a 10" x 1-1/2" assembly on a 10" x 2-1/4" drum (or vice versa) will result in improper contact, uneven wear, and reduced braking performance.
When servicing tandem axles, replacing all four brake assemblies ensures balanced braking and consistent magnet performance.
This listing includes FOUR complete brake assemblies (two axles).
