This is a complete basic add-brakes kit for a single 3500 pound trailer axle using a 5 on 5 bolt pattern. The kit is designed for trailers that currently have no brakes and already have a welded brake mounting flange on the axle.
Fits many common 3500 pound axles from Dexter, AL-KO, AXIS, Quality, and similar manufacturers. Compatible with spring axles or torsion axles, EZ Lube or standard spindles.
Bolt Pattern Reference
This kit is for trailers with a 5 bolt, 5 inch bolt pattern.
Fitment Verification
- Axle rating: 3500 pound
- Backing plate bolt pattern: 2 7/8 inch center to center
- Axle tube outside diameter approximately 2 1/4 inches
- Brake flange welded to axle with four mounting holes
If your axle tube measures 2.75 inches, it is a larger capacity axle and requires a different kit. Smaller 1 5/8 inch axle tubes use smaller brake assemblies.
Kit Contents – One Axle
- Two electric brake backing plates, left and right, 10 inch by 2.25 inch
- Two brake drums, 10 inch diameter, 5 inch bolt pattern, races installed
- Complete brake hardware set including shoes, magnets, springs, and levers
- Mounting hardware for backing plates including special 7 16 inch nuts
- Two inner grease seals, 10-19, 1.7 inch
- Two L44649 bearings
- Two L68149 bearings
- Ten lug nuts, 1 2-20 thread
- Two EZ Lube dust caps
Important Notes
Bearings ship loose for packing during installation. This is a basic brake kit and does not include wiring, brake controller, or breakaway system.
This kit is intended for trailers using a 5 bolt, 5 inch bolt pattern wheel. Verify all measurements before ordering.
