This Dexter Electric Over Hydraulic (EOH) Brake Actuator is a heavy-duty braking control unit designed for trailers equipped with hydraulic disc brake systems. It converts an in-cab electronic brake controller signal into precise hydraulic pressure for consistent, proportional braking.
With a maximum output of 1,600 PSI, solid-state electronics, and DOT-compliant operation, this actuator is commonly used on high-value, high-capacity trailers where braking performance, reliability, and control accuracy are critical.

Brake Controller Compatibility
This actuator is compatible with proportional brake controllers that support electric over hydraulic (EOH) operation.
- Compatible with most modern EOH-capable proportional controllers
- Time-delay (time-based) controllers are not recommended
Wiring Connections
| Yellow | Cold side of breakaway switch (hot when breakaway occurs) |

Important: The yellow wire must be connected to the breakaway system for the actuator to function during a breakaway event.
Breakaway System Requirement
This actuator requires a minimum 9 amp-hour (9Ah) breakaway battery to meet safety and regulatory requirements.
Operating Behavior
The actuator enters a low-power sleep mode when inactive. To re-activate the unit:
- Apply the trailer brakes using the in-cab brake controller (once or twice)
- OR disconnect and restore power to the actuator
