R&P Knowledge Hub
Clamp block wheel systems are commonly used on mobile home transport axles and certain low boy utility trailers. Instead of wheel studs and lug nuts, the wheel rim is held in place by clamp blocks tightened with bolts around the hub. As the bolt tightens, the clamp block presses against the rim flange to secure the wheel. The tapered bolt hole helps center the mounting bolt while allowing the clamp block to seat properly against the rim during tightening.
