Confirm trailer length, connector gender and configuration, axle/brake count, ground return, lighting connections and mounting clearances. Route wiring away from sharp edges, moving suspension parts and heat sources; support and protect the harness along the frame.
Test the ground, running lights, left/right turn and brake-light circuits. For seven-way systems, also test electric brake output and auxiliary/reverse circuits as applicable. Trailer manufacturers may use different conductor colors, so confirm each wire by diagram and electrical test rather than color alone.
